Yoán Moncada will undergo surgery on his right knee, the Angels announced. The 30-year-old third baseman was transferred to the 60-day injured list Tuesday, ruling him out through at least mid-July.
The specifics of the procedure and whether he will return this season have not been disclosed. Moncada has appeared in 29 games this season, batting .174 with 3 home runs and 9 RBIs across 86 at-bats.
The injury leaves the Angels short a veteran infielder at third base during the stretch run toward the All-Star break and trade deadline.
