Injury

The goaltender has ended his contract overseas after a brief Buffalo tenure.

Alexandar Georgiev has terminated his KHL contract and is seeking an NHL opportunity, per reports. The goaltender played for Buffalo this past season before moving overseas; he is now attempting another return to the league.

Georgiev, 28, appeared in 20 games for the Sabres in 2025-26 with a 7-10-3 record and .898 save percentage. The timing of his move during the NHL playoffs narrows the realistic landing spots to teams with goaltending injuries or playoff depth questions, and he would need to clear waivers or sign as a free agent once the league's playoff window closes.
