Chicago replaces its coaching staff mid-playoff run with the former NBA center.

The hiring comes during the NBA playoffs. Splitter's prior coaching experience and background as a longtime NBA player give him familiarity with roster-level decision-making, though the timing of a mid-playoff transition carries risk for a team actively competing.
