The Washington Capitals signed 2026 first-round pick Oliver Suvanto to a three-year entry-level contract Tuesday, then officially loaned the 17-year-old Finnish center back to Tappara on Friday for the 2026-27 season, per Capitals PR. The deal carries a $1.075 million NHL salary, per RMNB. Suvanto, taken 18th overall last month, posted 11 points in 48 Liiga games against men as an under-18 player last season — the top mark in that age group. For dynasty managers, the timeline is set: a second full season in Finland’s top league, with his North American debut no earlier than fall 2027.
