The Royals placed right-hander Stephen Kolek on the 15-day injured list Sunday with a right flexor strain, an injury he suffered Saturday while pitching a rehab start at Triple-A Omaha. Manager Matt Quatraro told MLB.com’s Anne Rogers that Kolek will undergo testing Monday to determine the severity. Kolek has a 4.50 ERA over 10 starts and 54 innings this season and had made just one start in the past four weeks while away from the team following the premature birth of his daughter, who is doing well per Rogers. Depending on the test results, the strain could threaten the rest of his season. Kolek can be dropped in fantasy leagues until the diagnosis clarifies.
