Jose Caballero exits with a right-hand injury after 31 games this season.
The Yankees recalled SS Anthony Volpe and placed Jose Caballero on the 10-day IL with a right-hand finger fracture. Caballero, 29 in his fourth year with New York, had appeared in 31 games with a .266 average (29-for-109) and 4 home runs this season.
Volpe, 25, has started at least 147 games at shortstop for the Yankees in each of the past three seasons and returns to the lineup as Caballero's replacement.
