The Giants third baseman will undergo surgery Tuesday for a hernia and core muscle tear.
Matt Chapman will have season-ending surgery Tuesday for a hernia and core muscle tear, per reporting from Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle and Alex Pavlovic of NBC Sports Bay Area. Chapman, 33, is in his 10th major-league season and was hitting .262 with one home run in 32 games this year.
The move ends Chapman's 2026 season during the stretch run as San Francisco pursues a playoff spot. Chapman will see a specialist Sunday before the procedure.
