InjuryShort note

The Mets' 24-year-old catcher will miss time with a right-knee injury.

Francisco Alvarez has a meniscus tear in his right knee, the Mets announced. Alvarez, 24, is in his fifth season and has caught in 30 games this year, batting .227 with 4 home runs and 8 RBIs. No timeline for his return was given.

The Mets have called up Hayden Senger to take Alvarez's roster spot. New York's catching depth will now rotate between Senger and whoever was backing up Alvarez on the active roster. Early-season roster churn and injury management will define much of May for the Mets.
