Injury

The Red Sox starter takes the mound Thursday after missing time with a lower-body injury.

Ranger Suarez returns to action Thursday against Philadelphia after a 12-day absence due to hamstring tightness sustained May 3. The 30-year-old right-hander, in his ninth season, has posted a 2-2 record with a 3.09 ERA over six starts this year. He will face the Phillies for the first time since Boston acquired him as its main pitching addition.

Suarez's last outing ended early with the injury, leaving his availability for the rest of May uncertain until now. First pitch is 6:45 p.m. ET at Fenway Park.
