San Diego removes its struggling starter from the rotation as Alek Jacob comes up from Triple-A.
The Padres placed right-hander Matt Waldron on the 15-day injured list, the team announced. Righty Alek Jacob was recalled from Triple-A in the corresponding move. Waldron, 29, has made three starts this season, posting a 9.88 ERA with a 1.98 WHIP over 13.2 innings.
The move clears a rotation spot for Jacob while Waldron steps off the active roster. The Padres have cycled through their starting options early in the season as the rotation settles.
