Minnesota's second-round exit highlights the impact of missing a key spacing option against San Antonio's defense.

The Timberwolves' season ended Friday with a series-clinching loss to the San Antonio Spurs. Anthony Edwards, who faced consistent double-teams in the second round, said after the defeat that the absence of Donte DiVincenzo—a 29-year-old guard averaging 12.2 points and 3.8 assists this season—hurt Minnesota's ability to punish the Spurs' trapping defense.

Edwards pointed to DiVincenzo's spacing and shot-making in the slot as a tool the Timberwolves lacked when trying to counter San Antonio's aggressive coverage. Without that outlet, the Spurs' defensive scheme had fewer consequences.
