The Mets' veteran starter suffered a right fibula fracture Friday and is unlikely to pitch before August.
Clay Holmes fractured his right fibula Friday against the Yankees. The 33-year-old starter told reporters surgery has not been ruled out but does not appear likely at this time, per SNY. Holmes is expected to miss the remainder of the first half and could return sometime after the All-Star break.
Holmes entered Friday with a 3-2 record, 1.75 ERA, and 36.0 innings over six starts. The injury forces the Mets to shuffle their rotation during a stretch when depth will be tested.
