San Antonio loses its starting guard to ankle soreness as the Western Conference finals begin Monday night.

De'Aaron Fox was ruled out of Game 1 of the Western Conference finals Monday with right ankle soreness. The Spurs' starting guard, 28, averaged 18.6 points and 6.2 assists in the regular season. Fox tested the ankle at shootaround and again pregame in Oklahoma City but did not play.

The Thunder activated Jalen Williams for the series opener after he missed six games with a left hamstring strain. Williams, 25, averaged 17.1 points, 5.5 assists, and 4.6 rebounds over 33 regular-season games.
