Toronto makes roster space for the relief pitcher while moving out a prospect who spent six months in Triple-A.

The Toronto Blue Jays designated outfielder Yariel Rodriguez for assignment Tuesday, clearing a roster spot to activate relief pitcher Tommy Nance. Rodriguez was originally DFA'd in December, cleared waivers, and spent the past six months with Triple-A Buffalo, where he overhauled his pitch mix.

Nance, 35, has pitched 14 games for Toronto this season with a 5.14 ERA, 1.29 WHIP, and 17 strikeouts in 14 innings. The five-year veteran has gone 0-2 with a 5.14 ERA in 2026.
