The Cubs' veteran starter completes rehab and rejoins the rotation after a knee injury.

Matthew Boyd has cleared his minor-league rehab assignment with Triple-A Iowa and will be reinstated from the 15-day injured list ahead of Chicago's series in San Francisco next weekend, the Associated Press reports. The 35-year-old right-hander (12 years experience, debut 2015) has been sidelined with a knee injury since early June.

Boyd enters the return with a 1-1 record, 7.00 ERA, and 1.44 WHIP across four starts and 18.0 innings this season. His reinstatement fills a rotation spot for the Cubs heading into the second half.
