Baltimore loses its veteran starter to a back injury mid-season.

The Baltimore Orioles placed right-hander Chris Bassitt on the 15-day injured list retroactive to Friday with low back discomfort. Bassitt, 37, is in his 12th season and has made six starts in 2026, posting a 2-2 record with a 5.46 ERA and 1.86 WHIP over 28.0 innings.

Trey Gibson was recalled from Triple-A Norfolk to start Monday against Seattle. The move leaves Baltimore's rotation without Bassitt's veteran arm for at least two weeks as the team heads toward the All-Star break.
