Laviolette takes over the Kings and reunites with left wing Artemi Panarin, a 34-year-old veteran in his 11th season.

Pete Laviolette was hired as head coach of the Los Angeles Kings, per the team's announcement. Laviolette most recently coached the New York Islanders and will reunite with left wing Artemi Panarin, who is on the Kings' roster.

Panarin, 34, has 11 years of NHL experience and posted 9-18—27 in 26 regular-season games this year. Laviolette's arrival marks a new leadership structure for Los Angeles as the team moves forward from the regular season into playoff positioning.
