Injury

Atlanta makes roster moves as a rookie starter joins the rotation.

The Braves recalled JR Ritchie and selected James Karinchak to the major league roster. Ritchie, a 22-year-old right-hander in his debut season, has posted a 2.92 ERA with 11 strikeouts over 12.1 innings in two starts. To make room, Atlanta placed relief pitcher Tyler Kinley on the 15-day IL and designated Carlos Carrasco for assignment.

Kinley, 35, has been one of the Braves' most reliable relievers this season with a 1.29 ERA, 1.14 WHIP, and 14 strikeouts in 14 innings across 15 appearances. His absence removes an anchor from the bullpen during the midseason stretch.
