New York police will prohibit spontaneous fan assemblies around Madison Square Garden on Wednesday, eliminating planned watch parties.

The New York Police Department released a security plan Wednesday that bars fans from gathering around Madison Square Garden during Game 4 of the NBA Finals. The ban blocks the street watch parties Knicks owner James Dolan had approved for the arena.

The Finals are still active as of mid-June, with the series status and Game 4's outcome pending. The NYPD restrictions affect fan activity in the immediate MSG area regardless of the series result.
