The 31-year-old defenseman has submitted a trade request and will control his destination.

Darnell Nurse has requested a trade out of Edmonton, per reporting by Elliotte Friedman and Marc Spector. The 31-year-old defenseman, who has 11 years of NHL experience, holds a limited no-trade clause that restricts his options to a 3-5 team list of acceptable destinations.

Nurse finished the 2025-26 regular season with 7 goals and 17 assists across 82 games while posting a minus-12 rating. The trade request comes as the Oilers navigate their playoff run after a regular season that saw Nurse log significant ice time on the blue line.
