Injury

The Royals center fielder faces a significant foot injury that could sideline him well beyond the initial 10-day stint.

Kyle Isbel was diagnosed with a Grade 3 plantar fascia tear, the Royals announced after an MRI came back following his placement on the 10-day injured list. The center fielder, in his sixth season with Kansas City, is batting .276 with 3 home runs across 26 games this season.

A Grade 3 tear is a substantial injury to the tissue along the bottom of the foot and typically requires extended recovery time. Isbel's status beyond the initial 10 days will depend on the injury's response to treatment.
