The Tigers' starter goes down with a left peroneal strain mid-season.

The Tigers placed Jack Flaherty on the 15-day injured list Saturday with a left peroneal strain. Flaherty, 30, has made seven starts this season with a 5.90 ERA, 1.79 WHIP, and 32 strikeouts over 29 innings. The injury removes one of Detroit's rotation anchors at the midseason checkpoint.

The peroneal strain is a lower-leg injury that typically requires rest; the 15-day window is standard but offers no guarantee on return timing. Flaherty's absence opens rotation snaps for Detroit's depth options through at least late June.
