Atlanta shut down Spencer Strider for four weeks, per a team statement, after an MRI on his throwing elbow showed no structural damage. After the four-week pause, Strider will undergo a follow-up scan; if that clears, he will begin a throwing progression.
Strider, 26, has made 11 starts this season with a 3.47 ERA before the injury. The shutdown is a precautionary measure on a pitcher the Braves will need healthy for a potential playoff run in the second half.
