The Guardians called up center fielder Petey Halpin from Triple-A Columbus to fill the roster spot. Martínez, 24, is in his fourth season with the club and has appeared in 30 games this year with a .260 average (25-96) and five home runs.
Martínez's absence removes the team's primary left fielder during the heart of the season. Halpin, 23, made his MLB debut in 2025 and carries minimal big-league experience into the replacement role.
