The Maple Leafs and Flyers swapped starting goaltenders mid-playoff run.
Samuel Ersson and defenseman Emil Andrae were traded from Philadelphia to Toronto on Tuesday, along with a 2026 third-round pick, in exchange for goaltender Joseph Woll and defenseman Simon Benoit. Ersson, 26, had a .870 save percentage and 3.12 GAA over 33 regular-season games this year. Woll, 27, posted a .899 save percentage and 3.34 GAA across 39 appearances.
The swap addresses depth concerns for both teams mid-playoffs. Toronto adds a younger option in Ersson while shedding Woll's inconsistent season. Philadelphia gains Woll's marginally better regular-season mark and Benoit's veteran defense in exchange for shedding Ersson and a prospect asset.
