Transaction

The right-hander clears waivers after a month with the organization.

The Phillies released right-hander Jackson Rutledge on Tuesday, completing the transaction initiated when he was designated for assignment last week. Rutledge, 27, had been claimed off waivers from Washington roughly a month prior and was moved out to make room for the acquisition of outfielder Derek Hill from the White Sox.

Rutledge was a first-round pick by the Nationals and had limited time in the majors before his release. The move clears roster space as Philadelphia continues its midseason additions ahead of the trade deadline.
