The Atlanta Falcons have announced their 2026 training camp schedule, with the first practice set for July 29 in Flowery Branch and the first session open to fans on Friday, July 31, at IBM Performance Field. The dates were confirmed by the team this week as part of the league-wide training camp announcement.

It will be the first camp of the Kevin Stefanski era, and that alone changes what these mid-summer practices are for. A new head coach installing his offense does his most important teaching in the first two weeks of camp, before preseason games compress the schedule. What fans see at IBM Performance Field in early August will be a team learning a system, not polishing one — worth remembering before anyone panics over a sloppy period in front of the bleachers.

July 29 also now serves as the first hard checkpoint in the quarterback room. Michael Penix Jr. has said he expects to be a full participant when camp opens as he returns from ACL surgery, while Tua Tagovailoa took the bulk of the team reps during the spring program. The competition Stefanski has promised can’t fully start until both quarterbacks are practicing without restriction, and the calendar finally puts a date on when that should happen.

For a fanbase that has been asked to be patient through a coaching change and a quarterback rehab in the same offseason, the schedule announcement is the good kind of mundane: dates on a calendar, gates that open, football visible again. The optimism case for this team has always depended on things that can only be proven on a practice field. Starting July 31, they can be.
