Rookies arrive at Bank of America Stadium on July 21 and veterans follow on July 22 — tied for the earliest veteran report date in the NFL, per the league’s camp schedule announcement — because Carolina opens the preseason in the Hall of Fame Game against the Arizona Cardinals on Aug. 6.
The team also confirmed Fan Fest returns Friday, July 31, at Bank of America Stadium, with an open practice and general-public tickets that went on sale July 10.
The early start is more useful to this roster than it would be to most. A Hall of Fame Game appearance comes with an extra preseason game and the additional padded practices that precede it, and Carolina happens to be a team with real position battles to run. The most crowded is the receiver room around Bryce Young, where Xavier Legette, Chris Brazzell and Jimmy Horn Jr. are competing for reps, per the team’s own camp preview coverage. Every extra practice is another data point on who Young trusts by September.
That’s the honest way to look at a fourth preseason game most contenders would treat as a nuisance. For a team still converting last season’s progress into a settled depth chart, evaluation time is the scarcest resource of the summer, and Carolina just got two extra weeks of it. The development case for this roster — Young’s continuity in year two under the same staff, a rebuilt defensive front learning to play together — gets tested in increments, and the increments start July 21.
