The Carolina Panthers placed quarterback Will Grier on the reserve/retired list Wednesday, the team announced, ending his playing career at 31. Grier had rejoined Carolina on April 21 after the Cowboys released him in March; the Panthers originally drafted him in the third round in 2019. His only regular-season action came that rookie year, when he went 28-of-52 for 228 yards with four interceptions in two late-season starts. He retires after seven NFL seasons, most of them spent as a backup, and his exit trims Carolina’s quarterback room ahead of camp opening later this month.
