The NFL has suspended Cardinals director of college scouting Ryan Gold indefinitely for violating the league’s gambling policy, the league announced, citing an investigation that found Gold both bet on games and passed along confidential information about Arizona’s own draft.
The second finding is the unusual one. Per the league, Gold provided non-public inside information regarding the Cardinals’ 2026 draft selections before those picks were announced. Gambling policy cases involving team employees are typically about the wagers themselves. This one reaches into the information a club controls, from a scouting department whose entire function is keeping that information inside the building.
The league also determined Gold participated in parlay bets on NFL and college games.
Gold is in his 13th season with Arizona and was promoted to director of college scouting in June 2025. He spent 2022 through 2024 as assistant director of college scouting after four seasons, from 2018 to 2021, as a college scouting coordinator. That is a full career built inside one organization, and the role he was suspended from is one of the most senior evaluation jobs on the staff.
The NFL said the Cardinals fully cooperated with the investigation and that it found no indication any other member of the organization, coach or player knew of or took part in the activity. The league also said there was no indication any play or game was affected.
Gold has the right to appeal the suspension.
The timing lands with Arizona a few days from opening training camp; Cardinals veterans report July 22. The discipline is indefinite rather than a fixed number of games, which means there is no scheduled date on which Gold becomes eligible to return to the building.
