The Dallas Stars will open the 2026-27 season on Friday, Oct. 2 against the St. Louis Blues at American Airlines Center, the club announced Thursday with the release of its full 84-game schedule. The opener starts a back-to-back — Dallas visits Nashville the next night — the first of 13 such sets on the calendar.
The schedule splits the season into two very different halves of the calendar. October is home-heavy: nine of 14 games at American Airlines Center, including a six-game homestand from Oct. 20-31. January is the opposite — 10 road games, the most of any month, built around a season-long five-game trip from Jan. 14-20 through Boston, Long Island, New Jersey and Chicago. For a roster expected to compete at the top of the Central, the math is straightforward: the points banked at home in October will determine how much that January stretch stings.
The signature date is Feb. 20, when Dallas meets the Vegas Golden Knights in the 2027 Stadium Series at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, the home of the Cowboys, with a 7 p.m. CT puck drop on ABC. The release also confirms a Thanksgiving-weekend home date against the Utah Mammoth on Nov. 28 and a New Year’s Eve visit from the New York Rangers. The league pauses Feb. 5-7 for All-Star Weekend at UBS Arena.
The early divisional tests come fast. Beyond the Blues on opening night, Dallas plays a home-and-home with Colorado on Oct. 13-14 — two games in two nights against the team that finished one win behind the Stars’ Central-leading 17 in divisional play last season. Single-game tickets go on sale at a later date.
On the fantasy side, that front-loaded October is a reason to draft Stars skaters with confidence in the season’s opening weeks — Wyatt Johnston and Jamie Benn get nine home dates in the first month — while the 10-game January road slate is the spot to temper weekly expectations. The move to 84 games also adds two games of counting stats across the board.
