The Washington Capitals acquired forward Tyler Kopff from the Buffalo Sabres on July 13 in exchange for forward Zac Funk, the team announced. Kopff, 23, is a 6-foot-4, 220-pound Brown University product who split 2025-26 between AHL Rochester, where he had five points in 30 games, and ECHL Jacksonville, where he added six points in 10 games. As RMNB noted, the one-for-one swap trades Funk’s scoring pedigree for Kopff’s size and reach in the organization’s bottom-tier forward depth. Kopff has no fantasy relevance — he projects as Hershey and ECHL depth for 2026-27.
