Arizona Cardinals guard Isaiah Adams was arrested Sunday in Ontario, Canada, on four firearms-related charges, ESPN’s Josh Weinfuss reported Wednesday. Adams has since returned to Arizona and is expected to report to training camp with the rest of the team.
Per Weinfuss, Adams was one of four people arrested as part of an investigation by the Durham Region Police’s Guns and Gangs Unit. Two of the other individuals were charged with trafficking fentanyl, which was found in the vehicle at the time of the arrest. All four were held for bail hearings.
"Isaiah is completely innocent in this matter," Adams’ attorney, Adam Weisberg, said in a statement. "He had no knowledge of any firearm, and he will be fully exonerated." The Cardinals released a statement saying they are aware of the situation and would not comment further at this time.
Adams, a Canadian native who turned 26 on Tuesday, was a third-round pick out of Illinois in 2024. He worked his way into the right guard rotation midway through his rookie season and started Arizona’s final five regular-season games, then carried the job into 2025 before a midseason benching. He was moved to left guard in Week 5, sat the following week, and returned to the starting lineup at right guard in Week 13, holding the spot through the end of the year.
The timing matters for a line that was already headed for a camp battle. Second-round rookie Chase Bisontis was drafted to push Adams at right guard, and any development in the legal case could affect Adams’ availability. The NFL typically lets legal proceedings play out before considering discipline of its own, and Pro Football Rumors notes a quick resolution appears unlikely given the nature of the charges. For now, Adams is expected on the field when practices open Friday.
