The defenseman locks in long-term after a career season that included his first playoff goal.

John Marino signed an 8-year, $54 million extension with Utah Hockey Club. The deal follows a career-best 25-26 regular season in which Marino posted 4 goals, 32 assists, and 36 points across 80 games, plus his first career playoff goal.

Marino, 28, is in his seventh NHL season and has been Utah's anchor on the back line. The extension keeps him with the club through the 2033-34 season as the franchise enters its second year in Salt Lake City.
