The Tigers starter hit the milestone Wednesday as the trade deadline approaches.
Tarik Skubal recorded his 1,000th career strikeout Wednesday, joining a select group of Tigers pitchers with the achievement. Skubal, 29, is in his seventh season with Detroit and has posted a 3–2 record with a 2.70 ERA and 45 strikeouts through seven starts in 2026.
The milestone comes as the MLB trade deadline nears, with Skubal's status as a trade candidate uncertain. He received a standing ovation for the achievement in what may be his final start in a Tigers uniform.
