Injury

The Red Sox first baseman left Friday's game against Los Angeles after taking a pitch to the head.

Willson Contreras was removed from Friday's game against the Dodgers after being hit in the head by a pitch, per Tim Healey of The Boston Globe. The 33-year-old first baseman is in his 11th season and is batting .264 (29-for-110) with 7 home runs and 20 RBI across 31 games this year.

Contreras' status for Boston's continued playoff push will be a near-term question. The Red Sox have not provided further injury details as of Friday evening.
