San Francisco moves reliever Matt Gage to the 60-day IL to make room.
The Giants claimed infielder Buddy Kennedy off waivers from Seattle, per announcements from both teams. The Mariners designated Kennedy for assignment last week. San Francisco cleared a 40-man roster spot by transferring left-hander Matt Gage to the 60-day injured list. Gage, 33, has pitched 12.2 innings with a 1.42 ERA and 1.11 WHIP across 14 appearances this season.
The move reunites Kennedy with San Francisco, where he has prior history. Kennedy becomes depth for a Giants infield in the stretch run as the club pursues a playoff spot.
