San Jose looks to lock in its second young center after securing Celebrini long-term.

The San Jose Sharks are pursuing a long-term contract extension with Will Smith, following the team's recent deal with Macklin Celebrini. Smith, 21, has played two seasons as a center for the Sharks and posted 24 goals, 35 assists, and 59 points in 69 games last season.

The timing mirrors the team's strategy to cement its core: Celebrini, 19, finished his second season with 45 goals, 70 assists, and 115 points in 82 games. Both players are entering critical years in their development as the Sharks reshape their roster.
