Atlanta clears roster space for Ha-Seong Kim's arrival and Sean Murphy's return from the injured list.

The Braves designated shortstop Jorge Mateo for assignment, per Chad Bishop of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution. The move opens a roster spot for utility player Ha-Seong Kim, who joins the active roster tomorrow, and allows the team to reinstate catcher Sean Murphy from the 60-day injured list, according to Mark Bowman.

Mateo, 30, appeared in 18 games this season with a .242 average (8-for-33), 1 home run, and 3 RBI. He has seven years of major-league experience dating to his 2020 debut.
