Injury

The Nationals' young right fielder exits the stretch run with a soft-tissue injury.

The Nationals placed James Wood on the 10-day injured list Tuesday due to an oblique strain, per The Washington Post. Wood, 23, has appeared in 33 games this season with a .230 average, 10 home runs, and 24 RBI.

The move removes one of Washington's few young offensive bets during the final two months of the season. Wood debuted in 2024 and has seen steady playing time at right field, though his overall numbers suggest he remains in his adjustment phase at the major-league level.
