Injury

The White Sox activated the left fielder from the 60-day injured list and immediately moved him off the roster.

The White Sox reinstated Austin Hays from the 60-day injured list Wednesday and designated him for assignment. Hays, a 30-year-old left fielder with nine years of service, has appeared in only 12 games this season with a 10-43 line and one home run.

The DFA clears a roster spot as Chicago approaches September call-ups. Hays now enters a 10-day period during which the White Sox can trade or release him, or the calf injury that landed him on the 60-day list could factor into his availability if another club claims him.
