Toronto adds a right-hander to its September rotation while clearing roster space.
The Blue Jays claimed right-hander Matt Waldron off waivers from San Diego on Wednesday. Waldron, 29, has appeared in three games (all starts) for the Padres this season with a 9.88 ERA and 1.98 WHIP over 13.2 innings.
To open a 40-man roster spot, Toronto moved left-hander Patrick Corbin from the 15-day injured list to the 60-day injured list. Corbin, 36, is in his 14th season and has pitched 24.2 innings with a 3.65 ERA and 20 strikeouts in five starts this year.
