Mookie Betts
2018 AL MVP. 3× World Series champion (2018 BOS, 2020 LAD, 2024 LAD). 7× MLB All-Star. 6× Gold Glove. The face of two dynasties.
Markus Lynn 'Mookie' Betts was born October 7, 1992 in Nashville, Tennessee. He attended John Overton High School and was committed to the University of Tennessee for baseball when the Boston Red Sox selected him in the 5th round of the 2011 MLB Draft (172nd overall). He spent three years in the Red Sox minor-league system, debuting in Boston on June 29, 2014. He won the 2018 AL MVP unanimously — putting up .346/.438/.640 with 32 HRs and 30 SBs — and the 2018 World Series in the same season, becoming the first AL player ever to win MVP, batting title, Gold Glove, and Silver Slugger in the same year. The Red Sox traded him to the Dodgers in February 2020 to reset luxury-tax position; he won the 2020 World Series in his first LA season and the 2024 World Series in his fifth. He's a 7× All-Star, 6× Gold Glove winner, and the face of the Dodgers' modern era.
