Innings Pitched
Roger Clemens pitched 24 MLB seasons across four franchises (Red Sox, Blue Jays, Yankees, Astros), winning 354 games, 4,672 strikeouts, and a record 7 Cy Young Awards — won across all four of those franchises. Two-time World Series champion (1999, 2000 with Yankees). 1986 AL MVP. 11 All-Star selections. He's the only pitcher ever to win Cy Young awards with four different teams. The Mitchell Report (December 2007) named him as a steroid user; Clemens denied it under oath, was charged with perjury in 2010, and was acquitted in June 2012. He's been on the BBWAA Hall of Fame ballot for 10 years (2013-2022) without reaching 75% — peaking at 65.2%. He's eligible via Era Committees starting in December 2025.
Career
1984-1996
Boston Red Sox
13 seasons in Boston after going #19 overall in 1983. Won the 1986 AL MVP, three Cy Young Awards (1986, 1987, 1991), and led the Red Sox to the 1986 World Series (lost to the Mets in 7). Cut by Boston in 1996 after Dan Duquette's famous 'twilight of his career' quote.
1997-1998
Toronto Blue Jays
Two seasons after signing with Toronto as a free agent. Won the AL Cy Young Award in both seasons (1997, 1998) — the only player ever to win Cy Youngs in his first two seasons with a new team.
1999-2003, 2007
New York Yankees
Six seasons with the Yankees across two stints. Won two World Series championships (1999, 2000) and the 2001 AL Cy Young Award. The 2007 stint was a brief late-career return after a contract gap.
2004-2006
Houston Astros
Three seasons with his hometown Astros. Won the 2004 NL Cy Young Award at age 41 — the oldest Cy Young winner in baseball history.
