Toronto ends its coaching search with a veteran assistant who has spent a decade in the NHL.

The Toronto Maple Leafs hired Jim Hiller as head coach, per Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman and confirmed by the team. Hiller, 57, has spent the last decade working as an assistant in the NHL and was among multiple candidates the Leafs interviewed for the role.

The hire closes Toronto's search following the team's first-round playoff exit. Hiller replaces the previous coaching staff and becomes responsible for navigating the Leafs' roster through the 2026–27 season and beyond.
