The Philadelphia 76ers moved to 2-0 at Las Vegas Summer League on Saturday, beating the Indiana Pacers 100-93 in overtime after building a 24-point lead and watching all of it disappear. Two nights after an 18-point, seven-assist debut, first-round pick Labaron Philon led Philadelphia again with 24 points and six assists.
The No. 22 pick in June’s draft has now run the Sixers’ summer offense for two games with a combined three turnovers, and the pairing with second-year center Johni Broome is starting to look like a real two-man game. Broome posted 23 points and 11 rebounds, his second straight double-double, and Philadelphia won the points-in-the-paint battle 50-32.
The Sixers led 59-45 at halftime and opened the third quarter on a 12-2 run, pushing the margin to 71-47 with 6:48 left in the frame. Indiana answered with a 20-9 stretch behind Yuki Kawamura and Braden Smith to close the quarter, then kept chipping until the game was tied at 93 late in the fourth. Overtime was one-sided in the other direction: Philadelphia scored all seven points of the extra period and held the Pacers without a basket.
Matt Rogers added 17 points for the Sixers and Dante Maddox Jr. chipped in 15 with six rebounds. Jalen Slawson led Indiana with a game-high 26 points, per the NBA.com game report.
The blown lead will get the attention, but summer league games are about individual development, and the top of Philadelphia’s rotation delivered again. Philon has been poised against pressure, Broome has finished everything inside, and the Sixers have closed both of their games with composure — a 16-8 run against Detroit, a 7-0 overtime against Indiana. Philadelphia faces Houston on Tuesday.
For fantasy purposes, Philon is the name to file away. Point-guard minutes behind Tyrese Maxey are genuinely available, and back-to-back competent games running an offense make him a viable late-round dynasty rookie pick who could return redraft value if injuries open the depth chart. Broome’s rebounding and interior finishing keep him on the deep-league radar as frontcourt insurance in Philadelphia.
